This was an interesting read - and one that took me a bit to get through. There are veins running through this book that have to be carefully navigated.
Perfect for those who are looking for a way to talk about childhood trauma, and showing that things are not always better in other places.

I want to thank the author for providing me with a copy of this book via R&R Book Tours in exchange for my honest review.
This is my first book from this author and unfortunately it didn't work for me. I seem to have a very unpopular opinion on this book because everyone is loving it. For me it just wasn't the right fit.
I struggled with this book so much. I initially kept reading it because I knew everyone was loving it and I was hoping it would pick up for me but it didn't. I struggled the whole time with this book. This is a very slow character driven book. It's told from the point of view of Emma who at first is young and then it moves on from there into adulthood by the end. It literally just tells us what's going on in her day to day life. I even struggled to keep up with how much time was passing.
There is some tragedy and mental health issues within this book but I didn't feel any connection to any of the characters so I found myself not really caring about them. I just literally wanted to finish the book.
I think the big downfall for me was all the science and math that is all throughout this book. I suck at both of those subjects so everything went over my head and it would always pull me out of the story. I feel like if that wasn't such a HUGE part of this book I could have connected to the characters and actually enjoyed it and gotten more out of it then I was able to.
Unfortunately this wasn't the right fit for me but I can definitely see how people would enjoy it and can get more out of it then I was able to.
