The River of Silver

I like the alternative ending more.

This book is an anthology of short stories set before, during and after the events of the original trilogy and except for a small handful of the stories, I was left feeling flat by the majority.

I loved spending more time with these characters! I am so glad I read these after I finished the trilogy. These are just the right look in on these characters. We see most of the characters and get a little more insight about them. It was just the right amount of the right characters.

Every story in here feels like a gift from the author. This is the only short story collection I've ever given 5 stars to and it definitely deserves it! Great way to end my 2022 year of reading.

I needed more Nahri and Ali

 As much as I loved being back with the characters from the Daevabad world I think too much time has passed since I read the original books and this one for me to get the full potential out of it. There were some stories were I just could not remember what was happening at the times that they were referencing. I am glad that I have this now as I can read it when I want to do a re-read of the original series. 

I absolutely loved this short story collection and what a comfort to return to this world. You must read the Daevabad trilogy before picking this up though.
