The Mystery of the Curiosities

Warning: major spoilers for the first book in the series are contained in the first chapter! Don't read this series out of order.

I was this close to DNFing because I was soooo over the repetitive dynamic of Seb promising Calvin he won't try to solve the crime, then promptly breaking his promise and putting himself in danger with some TSTL behavior. Take out that dynamic and I'm fine - I enjoyed the deepening relationship between the two men, with Calvin slowly growing secure enough in Seb's love to admit that he needs help for his PTSD symptoms and Seb realizing that Calvin needs more words (both in and out of bed). I would read a straight contemporary romance with these characters, but as long as the mysteries keep involving Seb in this annoying way I won't stick around for more.
