I struggled a bit with this at times. My attention would drift. I'd go several days without picking it back up, often opting for a podcast instead. It got better as it went along and I already bought the final book in the series, so I will probably wrap it up later this year, but there are some other books I plan to listen to first.
Stephen Brand once again does an excellent job with the narration. This really helped me get through the slower parts when I was less interested.
This entry in The Covenant Steel trilogy certainly picks up its pace. It really had me finding it hard to put down. Where the first novel was sometimes plagued by slow pacing and the need for world building, this one finds its voice a lot faster. Lots of gruesome battles, perfect amount of lore dumps (and I do love lore), and lots of growth for our favourite outlaw, Alwyn. Can't wait to pick up the next book!
It is not often that I actually love a second book in a series more than the first. Twists I thought I knew were coming came but nothing to what I had anticipated. This one was hard to put down as there was no lulls or boredom and then when I finished I went immediately to purchase the third book and alas I have to wait a month. If the third book ends up being as good as the first two this is definitely going to be in my top series of all time.. So, so good.
