I thank my niece who convinced my brother who convinced me to start this saga, in my no longer prime, and discover a little gem of adventure literature!
Rick Riordan can speak to all ages, and that is the first and most important sign of a talented writer! Add to this a wonderful ‘Greek mythology'-themed urban fantasy atmosphere that manages to enter into everyday reality without forcing or smearing. All the characters are excellently characterized, heart-pounding action but always interspersed with moments of growth and reflection, and above all without getting lost in the stereotypical.
I have been waiting for such an engaging YA read since Harry Potter!
