it's not that this book is bad, there were just some quotes i don't want to see again. i do like how he became more vulnerable with her and how she was as well with him. it is a good pace, but i do think we should've cut the coworker out a long time ago because he was a major red flag.
cute romance! i wont lie i was laughing over the dirty talk. sooooooo hysterical. but cute overall.
And that's economics....
I have never felt more seen in a novel.
I'm autistic myself and have been so starved of representation, especially of autistic women, and boy did this book deliver. Highly recommend as a sweet, funny, and downright heartwrenching read!!!
I had a lot of fun reading this book. It was very enjoyable. To me, it was a page turner. I found myself staying up all night just to finish it; something I haven’t done in a very long time. I just couldn't put the book down.
The characters are all very lovable. The dynamic between the main character, Stella, and her love interest, Michael, is so adorable. They're very cute together, and many times it had me giggling and kicking my feet at how adorable they are together. And this is coming from someone who isn't really the romantic type, nor do I read romance books. It's one of my least liked genres, but this book might just get me into reading more like this. Sure, it was a bit cheesy at times. But it didn't bother me. I quite liked it actually. It was the right amount. I usually can't tolerate cliché and cheesy stuff like that.
I also liked both main characters as individuals. They're not one-dimensional. In fact, they're both quite nuanced. And I also found out that Stella's autism was based on the author, Helen Hoang's own diagnosis of being on the spectrum. This book does appear to be a reflection of her own life experience as someone with that disorder (Stella was born after Helen Hoang got her diagnosis, it seems). And it inspired me a little -- to be more myself instead of confining myself to societal norms. There were things about Stella I found quite relatable.
Michael, too, is such a lovable character. He's very charming, but not the stereotypical "hot guy from every other romance novel" type. He's complex, and a genuinely interesting character. There's more depth to him beyond his described good looks and charisma.
The writing style isn't overly sophisticated, but also not amateurish. There were a lot of clever and witty lines that added to its lightheartedness. The romance scenes is the right amount of sexy and provocative, yet touching and heartwarming. There were several smutty scenes here and there, but they weren't over-the-top and didn't drag on for way longer than it should. However, the main conflict wasn't really much of a focus until the final few chapters. Which had me completely glued to my screen, needing to know how they end up as quickly as possible. It was kinda cliché, yes, but also endearing in a way.
Loved everyone in this book. Everyone. Stella can best be described at adorable. She's sweet and thoughtful and so very smart. Michael was supportive and also so thoughtful. I loved the interactions with Michael's family and friends too. I could read more books about Stella and Michael....maybe the sisters need their own books?
I do not even know how to disribe this book. I enjoyed that it was about an autistic person. I however did not enjoy the sex. There was way too mych
⭐⭐⭐ 3'5
Tenía muchas ganas de leer este libro porque es importante darle voz también a personas con Trastorno de Espectro Autista y a la misma vez poder aprender a cómo hacerlos sentir bien y entenderlos un poco más
Bonus points for being steamier than I was expecting. Overall it was cute and hit a little too close to home.
This was a nice book. Not spectacular, not terrible, just nice.
Things I liked were... well, mostly just the main female character. Stella was awesome! The way she saw the world and interacted with it was pure gold! I liked her so much, halfway through the book I found myself wishing we were friends.
Michael, on the other hand... Well, he was nice. Too nice in fact. His entire persona was crafted so precisely as to make the possibility of his existence hard to believe. He was painfully handsome man, yet insecure; he was a clothes designer who trained martial arts; he was an escort, who is super monogamous and possessive... It just felt like something that doesn't exist.
The relationship between the two was also a bit too sweet to be believable. The obsession he developed for her from the get go was, frankly, weird. A man who has had so much sex for pay, against his wishes mind you, but was not scarred by it at all, is something I just don't buy. I wish the book would've touched on that, not just his father issues.
And the other guy (what's his name?) who was running around Stella was such a damn cliche and acted so weird, I just had to scoff.
There were so many undeveloped threads, a few unfinished ones and one that just showed up out of the blue at the end. It felt disjointed and unfinished.
Other than that, if you're looking for a (too) sweet romance with a great female lead and some steam, that's the book for you.
4.5 - this was so so so cute!! Stella is written perfectly and her acceptance of who she is including her autism made me so happy
I really liked that book and the characters. The style is awesome, though I prefer reading apicy scenes in English (I read the Polish version). I will defonotely read more Helen Hoang's books in the future.
okay, this is it, no more TikTok rom-com for me.
When the story is predictable and hits every trope, I really want the writing and characters to do some heavy lifting. And this does ... none of that. why is has so many rave reviews is beyond me. maybe I am not the target audience for it (?) I dunno, it was a drag to read. so boring and bland, my plain white rice has more character than these 300 pages.
shut the fuck up. i fucking loved this book. i read a majority of it in a single day. this is so so good, and i feel totally seen by Stella. currently refusing to take any other opinion into consideration. very very happy with what i have read.
It's a combination of several romance genre tropes that I don't like so it's a 2 star for me. Fake dating, dumb misunderstanding/ miscommunication, insta-love

I saw foreplay and decided i just can't read this book anymore. WTFF WAS THAT LESSON PLAN LMAO STOP THIS IS SO CRIGNESGIO. It's seriously not my cup of tea because i HATE erotica books with a burning passion and I was so dissapointed finding out this has that stuff gn.
It's not just the erotica that irked me. The way they interact with one another, it's just off putting. The parents are just horribly developed and absolutely nothing can change my mind. I tried to keep reading for the sake of plot but gosh i can't when every other page is just completely described smut with fantasies please i'm a fresh 17 year old and i cannot deal with this.
I'm still mentally recovering from that teacher fantasy, that irked me so much i just couldn't. I don't know how this book is a goodreaders winner but that's just my opinion lol.
I liked the element of representation in this book, not having your usual white main characters was actually like a breath of fresh air. The depiction of Asperger's Syndrome through Stella and her interaction with her environment was quite interesting and i've definitely gained a slightly better understanding towards it. I really enjoyed areas where Stella elaborates on her job and her passion for her career, it was just really fascinating and my favorite part of the book. Rest all just sucked. (as far as i've read lol)
I liked the dynamic? the relationship between them and their differences was very interesting. That's all. I hated everything else.
This book started off great for me and lost its steam a little over halfway and I was just annoyed by the end. I liked when the miscommunication was actual miscommunication, but when it went to not voicing any feelings or thoughts, that's when I was over it. The ending felt rushed and the characters were clichéd to an unenjoyable degree. I'm not even going to start with my issues with consent and sexual harassment in the workplace that are in this book. I'm going to continue the series, 1) because I'm a monster who buys a whole series before reading it, and 2) because this series is very hit or miss for readers, but is talked about everywhere.
This was such a great story with cute romance and important representation of characters on the spectrum.
