I had hoped this would be more in the tone of a war adventure with colorful characters; but while it starts out with introducing some interesting fellows, it doesn't follow through on the promise to develop their characters and let us get to know them. They proceed through war as puppets of the circumstances and see nothing wrong in breaking the rules and engaging in grave-robbery (though the donkey there gave a nice dash of humor). There is a great deal of strong language, including racial slurs. There was just too much negative and too much distance from the characters for me to really enjoy it.
