I sadly do not have a lot of knowledge of the Salem witch trials so going into this book I was ready for anything. What I didn't expect to find was a touching story of the love of a mother and father for their children in the face of despair. I was very touched by the raw characters and the descriptions of the surroundings they lived in was amazing. I think Kathleen Kent did a fantastic job of retelling the story of her family history in a gripping first novel.
