The author has kindly sent me a copy of her book “The Headsman”.
📖 The story: Some short tales of wickedness and sorrow of shady characters in a small village.
This book is very dark and atmospheric, building a story around an execution and the points of view of every character that was engaged. It had a cast of interesting characters like a strange merchant and (obviously😅) the headsman.
What I didn’t like about it, was the lack of character names which kept confusing me and made me struggle to understand what was going on. I think it was an attempt to build on the misty atmosphere but it kept me from connecting with the characters.
Overall, if you’re looking for a dark, gothic short story about some grey and sinful people told in a bit of a hazy way, this may be the one for you.
