The Haunted Forest Tour

The Haunted Forest Tour starts off strong with an action-packed beginning and pulpy B-Movie-style plot. Though a distinct lack of substance, a ham-fisted twist, and rushed ending will make you question if this tour was worth the cost of admission.

I loved the first half, then it got weird, and not in a good or fun way. Had the book stayed on track (pun intended) I would've loved this crazy creature feature, but as is it feels disjointed. It reminds me of Supernatural season 1-5 vs the rest of the series. Both start out amazing with fun monsters and unique lore, then turn into politics and typical demons.

I loved the beginning of this book and the end, at first I thought it was going to be like a supernatural Jurassic Park, but then in the middle it got more complicated. At first when the origins of the forest is starting to be explained I didn't really buy into it and was disappointed, but by the end it had pulled me back in and I enjoyed it, especially how quickly it passed between characters creating a sense of urgency in the final action sequences. The books was written really well, the characters were enjoyable, and setting was amazing. I think if I hadn't had the expectation that I did I would have enjoyed it much more so just be aware of that and I think you'll enjoy it. Not a masterpiece but fun slasher book.
Do be warned there is quite a lot of female objectification, which was not enjoyable. 3.5/5 rounded up for Goodreads.

Legit had fun with this one. I wish I could experience it for the first time again. There were parts that legit made me nervous for the cast of characters hoping that someone wouldn't die a gruesome death or be torn apart after being relentlessly tormented. 5/5
