I listened to the audiobook and never found myself captured unfortunately, had high hopes for this book!
Utterly enjoyable read if you love Mullally and Offerman. They meander all over the place, share philosophies on love and hot dogs (secret audio chapter people!), and crack a ton of adorable dirty jokes together. Add this one to your summer reading list.
For people who enjoy memoirs, I think this would be more of a 4-star book. Memoirs are not really my thing, but I wanted to check this out because I love Nick and Megan as performers so much, and I adored their live show, “Summer of 69 (No Apostrophe).”
This was cute and enjoyable and definitely made me laugh out loud more than once. Sometimes it did just feel like a couple sitting together remembering anecdotes, but what more entertaining couple could you pick? Not everything was hilarious and riveting, but it was sweet and fun.
There's an extra “secret chapter” at the end about their likes and dislikes which didn't seem really promising - it drags a bit and isn't particularly original. But stick around for the part where they discuss (how do I phrase this with no spoilers) a memorable movie scene that stars a prominent member of the Lord of the Rings cast.
Light and fun and sweet. They're really funny together, of course. The audio book is the only way to go here, as they're just off-the-cuff riffing on what they've written, and I'm sure I'd be annoyed at how all over the place it is in text form. The part where they describe the pictures of each other that are in the book was really a gem.
5 stars This was by far the best memoir I have ever read/listened to! It was basically just a conversation between Megan and Nick and it was absolutely amazing. So funny and smart! I was so surprised to learn they're both introverts and they love to do jigsaw puzzles while listening to audiobooks! So relatable.
I said once that I'd listen to Offerman read the Newark train schedule. I was wrong. Basically, the premise of this book was for Nick and Megan to sit down with a voice memo app and ramble aimlessly about how wonderful they are together until they hit the 6 hour mark so they could sell it as a book. I really like both of them, but damn, I don't need to ever hear about their personal lives again.
I love these two. Listening to this was the best because they just could not stop laughing the whole time! #relationshipgoals
Greatest? Maybe. Most Hilarious? Quite Possibly. What happens when you get two very busy comics who each have one breakout role on television and who happen to be married to each other get together to discuss their nearly two decade long relationship? Hilariousness ensues, that's what. They get into controversial topics from time to time, and this is definetly not a book you want to listen to with kids around (and you need to actually listen to this one, rather than read it, even if you know their voices precisely... which would be kind of creepy anyway... moving on...), as there is a fair amount of... colorful... language used (though nothing XXX rated, just to be clear). Overall, a truly hilarious tale about their lives together and their thoughts on relationships, fashion, celebrity, and all kinds of other things. I actually got my Closer badge on Audible with this book, thanks to a 6 hr drive - and it is absolutely worth reading in one sitting. :)
