The Epic Story of the Building of the Brooklyn Bridge

Incredible story weaving engineering feats, machine politics, and personal tragedy. I keep thinking about the genius and precision it took to sink the caissons into the riverbed an inch at a time. My only gripe is that Emily's story isn't really told until late in the book when it's acknowledged early that she was a key player.
We take projects like the Brooklyn Bridge for granted. Learning how they were conceived then built and knowing the lasting impact they have had is fascinating. This book goes into great detail but moves along at a good pace.
Wow - what a cool story. Everyone who loves a story in which the protagonist overcomes difficult circumstances to achieve something truly great should read this book.
The best and worst of human nature are reflected in this story but, in the end, the good wins out and the result is one of the most majestic engineering feats in history.
