I love this book.
John Irving writes with a wry amusement about life and a warm affection for his characters. I love the combination of slightly unreal situations and fully believable people all wrapped up in clever prose. I have read this book 3 or 4 times now and loved it every time.
I have always been a fan of John Irving. I finally got around to reading this, now somewhat dated, effort. The plot involves an interesting and moderately entertaining, albeit unlikely, twist of fate. Based on some of his earlier work I had high expectations and, frankly I was a little disappointed. This book was not nearly as funny or entertaining as I had hoped.
