Children's historical novel set in south-west England during World War II. It won the 1978 Carnegie Medal.

Through the eyes of Colin Lockwood, an ordinary schoolboy whose father works at Exeter Cathedral, the novel describes the devastating bombing raid on the town in May 1942.
