What a sweet story! I found this witch universe mixed with the human one interesting. The romance is adorable.
I can see the appeal with this book because of the cozy, autumn feels and the romance mixed with witchy-vibes (Alana's fav vibes? Yes please). But the chemistry between the mc and romantic interest just didnt feel well-developed or organic and the story itself was pretty basic. Not a bad read, but not one I'd pick up again.
a true potato chip book. once you start, hard to put it down but the whole time you're not really enjoying it all that much and it's definitely not good for you? but you're absolutely going to keep reading anyways
delivers on a light hearted, spooky romance without too much thought into it!
This book is all about the Halloween town ✨vibes✨. It's the perfect light witchy fall read! Add in a little spice and a second chance romance, and a “save the town / break the curse” storyline and you have yourself a very enjoyable story. It's a cozy read and moved at a slower pace than I was expecting but overall, I enjoyed it. I wish more of the action that happened in the last 20% was more fleshed out!
Enjoyable fast paced romance. Good ideas just wanted a little more world building.
I enjoyed it, but I also listened to it. I don't know if I would have finished it as fast otherwise.
4.5 on storygraph rounded down to 4
i loved this !!!!
for my first real romance book ive ever read i actually really really pleasantly was surprised on how much i loved this. the smut was a little -weird- for me to read so maybe im a closed door girlie?? i dont know.
will i read the rest of the series? i dont know i really just love viv and rhys so maybe not.
but wow! im just still in shock by how much i liked this!!
if you like rom coms, you'll absolutely love this book.
For a rom com- it's a 5/5. For me, it's a 3/5.
It is a super cute and funny book! And it is a quick read! I split between reading and listening to it, and I finished it in a couple days.
But other than that- it's pretty predictable in the plot, and it has a third act breakup (which most rom coms have, and I hate third act breakups), so personally, for me, it's a 3/5. If you love rom coms, you'll absolutely love this book.
I so loved this book!! The banter was top tier and I loved the family dynamic! I'm so excited to read the next one and I'm sure that the ex hex is the kind of book I'll pick up every year because I can feel it becoming a source of comfort ❤️
The love story was the worst part about this book. Predictable. Not smutty enough. And I just wasn't loving Vivi and Rhys. The magic and witchy based plot brought the drama which I enjoyed the most. I wish the tension of lifting the curse lasted a bit longer but I get that this is a romcom book first.
Best thing about reading this book was that I learned I appreciate smut and I may have a thing for queer witches because Gwyn melt my soul melt.
Based on the synopsis, it should have been a perfect fit for me. But I'd heard mixed reviews before reading, so my expectations weren't all that high. Still, I wanted to like this book, but I found it disappointing. I never felt like I really got to know the characters - the characterization always felt surface level and there was a distance in the storytelling that prevented me from ever feeling close to the characters. And there were times when I had to force myself to pick it up or prompt myself to just read one more chapter so I'd be closer to being done with it. I'm glad I finally read it. I might continue with the series because I am interested in Gwyn; hopefully the next book is about her.
I lost interest after the first few chapters. By the time I got to chapter 25, I didn't care anymore so I skipped to the last chapter just to see how it all wrapped up. Also, the way she kept being referred to as Viv in some chapters and Vivienne in others annoyed me.
This is a silly romantic comedy. There's a happy ending.
I didn't much care for the racy bits all throughout the last third.
This one was sweet, at times cloyingly so, but cute enough overall. The romance was acceptably unrealistic. The plot and hijinks were my favorite part. All of the ley line shenanigans. I think if it was either wittier or grungier, it would have been more my jam. Still gonna read the next one.
