I have mixed feelings about this book (well, three books actually since this is an omnibus edition). It is a science fiction story with some interesting concepts, worlds and characters, but at the same time it also has some problems.
The largest problem, for me, is the main character, while generally likeable, is somewhat emotionally immature for her age and most of the plot events just kind of happen to her rather than the character taking agency.
There's also parts of the book that just keep reiterating the same things over and over again (I'm being intentionally vague to keep spoiler free), I am not sure if this was self-published but either way, it could've used a good editor.
I also found the author's trick of having a character's paranoia and second guessing as the primary source of dramatic tension a bit annoying, especially since it was used twice. The first time was okay but the second time I wanted to smack some sense into the character.
So in closing, assuming anyone ever reads this, it's an enjoyable enough read. I would consider it ‘light' science fiction.
