The Diabolic

Wonderfully done. Despite being the first in a trilogy, I don't feel bullied into reading the second by an annoying cliffhanger.

It was so well done that I chose to buy the second one when I happened across it on sale years later.

The start was amazing. I was hooked and read half of the book on one sitting. Then it started to drag.
Why wouldn't they do this? Why did they do that? Why was she killed? No...
But - all in all I liked it. I didn't like it so much I would read the following books.
