There's a lot of bloat in this book. Pages and pages describing which roads he takes driving and weird tangents his brain goes on when he's sitting around his house. There was even a few pages about going through the drive through of a fast food restaurant and then how the first window wasn't open and he just sat there until horns honked at him. There's a lot that you think will later tie into the story, but it never does. Meanwhile, there's three different mysteries going on and none of them are really given their due.
I loved listening to this one on tape. CD actually. I don't think I would have enjoyed just reading it. Adding the southern accent to the novel was a fabulous addition! I liked it a lot more that way.
