The Dark

I have a lots of mixed feeling about this book. The author is verry good at describing horror and creating suspence. But the book, except for Bishop has absolutely no character development, no motivations are shown. I also feel that the story could have been 100 pages less, and the end, outrageously displaying a deus ex machina ( the light coming from nowhere, just killing the dark) makes me want to only give 3 starts to this book

James Herbert does Quatermass, but makes it darker and more violent. Starts off really well but the last 100 pages feel really drawn out. 3.5 rounded up.
