she got the summer camp vibe right. i so badly wanted to like this but the direction it went In just didn't hit. i kinda went into it blind (as blind as you can with a title like the counselor in the thriller / mystery genres) and thought i'd be reading a slasher, not tax evasion :/
Eh. From the blurb I was expecting more of a thriller type vibe with actual danger or action type scenes. This is really more of a mystery. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.
heavy nostalgia for sleepaway camps, which I never went to, but a very interesting twist with the impact of the camp on the town
This book was not as bloody as the cover made it out to be, but if you're interested in tax evasion and off shore accounts, then this is the book for you!
I usually love books set at summer camp. This one fell a bit flat for me though. I felt like the mystery aspect was more of a side plot and I didn't find myself captivated. I was kind of bored most of the time.
One thing I really resonated with was the way Goldie felt about her friendship with Imogen and Ava. The feeling of being in such a close relationship yet also feeling left out is something that really hits with my own anxiety.
But overall this book just fell flat for me.
