The Captain

Wow, I had no clue this book was so rare! No ratings for either of the author's books.

Presumably the Captain is Grant. The story is told through the eyes of a hero who follows his Captain from the woods of Illinois through all the various conflicts of battles and marches along the way. The tale is primarily of the war, but a tender romance is included as well. Solid storytelling and a good characterization of a Captain who very truly loomed larger than life when he once set himself to attain a goal.
