I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.
Picking up a few months after where The Choosing left off, we are thrown right into the height of the action from page one and kept in suspense all the way through the book. We meet several new characters and lose some dear ones as the story unfolds and the emotion is captured beautifully.
The main moral in The Choosing was identity, and while The Calling does build on this as well, it focusses more on overcoming fears and surrendering our burdens to our Father. I love how Rachelle illustrates this in the life of Remko and the story itself is an excellent story well worth reading.
The dystopian storyline, like I said in my review of The Choosing, is not remarkably different than most other dystopians, however, it's side-plots and surprising twits are what sets it apart. Readers will be excited to read their favorite genre without worrying about duplicated storylines and they certainly will not be able to guess the ending right from page one either. The Calling is a great sequel and I anxiously await book 3!
I give it 5 out of 5 stars!
