The Body in the Garden

Made it to 50% and was bored. Didn't like or enjoy reading about any of the characters.

It doesn't happen too often, but sometimes choosing a book based on its cover doesn't work out for me. This was one of those times. I was just bored with Lily. She felt like cardboard to me, there wasn't much to her and I didn't care about solving the murder at all!

This was an enjoyable Regency historical mystery to read. The characters were interesting, and the plot had a good enough twist to keep the reader attention. Historical accuracy was portrayed well, with clear research having being given.

A great debut novel for Katherine Schellman.

This was an August 2022 Bonus Borrows recommendation.

The book itself seems fine. The MC was boring and grating like sand. I'm also discovering how much I hate period piece murder mysteries. It's like the new trend is to make a Sherlock Holmes style mystery but featuring a woman. I think I'll stick with corny modern day mysteries and avoid the historical ones.
