First in a series. This is police procedural involving a body discovered in an impossible position in a cave. The victim was a greatly disliked character in the small Yorkshire community. Soon there is another murder. The investigating team includes a new to town transfer from London, an experienced lead detective and a female detective who was experiencing some personal problems. The caving or pot holing as it is called in the book was exhaustively discussed in the book. It was a little too much for me, however it is a critical part of storyline so I understand. This is normally the kind of novel I enjoy but I found it to be just average. I am hoping that the series will grow on me.
Next in series The Quartet Murders
I've never read or listened to a thriller like it. It seemed almost satire in the way it was coming across. Lots of dark humor maybe? I'm english and even I was scratching my head. I don't know I loved it but I was intrigued for sure.
The story was really unusual but I loved the characters. Yeah this one is very different and nothing I have experienced before

The Body in the Dale's is the first book in a series set in Yorkshire.
I love finding new series and I will definitely be reading more of this one.
The idea of this book is good, and it's clear the author has extensive knowledge of the area it's set in. But the writing of the male-female relationships takes you out of the story, with the female characters caricatures at best. The story would have been much better without the teenage-boy view of how couples interact.
