When the sleepy valley village of Sussex proves to be anything except for the quaint country town that misfit Daniel grew up believing, he discovers a world skirting the forests that he thought only existed in his fantasy books. A hidden world buried behind the towering pines and bubbling brooks known as Foxwater burrow, where time has forgotten the medieval traditions, sword swinging rogues, smithing dwarves, elegant elves, and dangerous mythical creatures that have toiled there for centuries. The burrowfolk are a peaceful people who've hidden behind a magical veil from the outside world, having sought to rebuild their lives after a great civil war years prior brought them to near destruction during an uprising led by the once famed Castor Knight, Alistair Murcrow.
Though the war ended, and the usurper defeated, his cause remains strong as his legion of werewolves, vampires, and bandits pull Daniel into a terrible storm of politics, betrayal, legacy, and turmoil, with Daniel's own curiosity and eagerness to belong here soon throwing him into the middle of a fiendish criminal plot. With his new friends, they set off across the land to thwart what plans Murcrow's army have before they can revive his uprising.
