I watched films and cartoons about Superman, but I have never read a comic. Nice reading, action-packed and with plenty of heart. I like how we see him without his costume, just in a t-shirt, jeans and boots.
I cried at least 3 separate times at this book?!
DAMN YOU KENT FAMILY, DAMN YOU AND YOUR MOVING HUMAN GOODNESS :'(
I had high expectations from a Superman reboot but I must say this is one of the New 52 disappointments. The writing has a feeling of being rushed and the pencil work is just not the type I prefer. The re-boot not only does not bring a fresh perspective it is fairly confusing too. The panels appear crowded and too many things appear to happen at the same time. Of course none of it is helped by the fact that we suddenly go into some parallel world in the middle of the whole volume. Action comics gets demoted on my must read lists.
I had misgivings on this based on The Last Angry Geek's review of the first issue. I shouldn't have been so concerned. This is a really good start to the series, and I'm definitely going to read the next trade.
