I really am sad to see this series end. To be honest I feel like this book left me feeling like this world isn't over, like I should have had another few pages to read that tied everything up. Maybe a chapter that was set five years in the future.
In this the lady lead is front the upper crust of society, a blueblood. She had an amazing talent, healing, but there is a flip side. Heragic also has the potential to do the exact opposite, kill. She can inflict plagues, stop organ function, etc. She enjoys the way it feel to let the dark side of her magic loose. It's addicting and very dangerous for her to use.
The gentleman lead is a member of the Mar family, an Edger from a swamp considered to be of lesser class. He is a man with many emotional scars. When his previous wife walked out on him it almost broke him, years later he still doesn't feel whole.
The two share a common goal, eliminate a ring of slavers. Both have had dealings with them in the past that have left lasting hatred towards them.
I love how the authors slowly build the relationships between their characters starting with friendship first letter, later one of intense love. There is sex, but unlike a lot of paranormal romance it is not the main action in the book. We get some awesome fighting scenes too where the characters throw around some pretty cool magical abilities using it to crush the bad guys.
The world in which the Edge books takes place is brilliant. You get a normal Earth like setting with no magic, the Broken. There is also a place that is geographically mirrored where magic is strong and frequent, the Wierd. Then you have the in-between called The Edge. In the Edge magic is present, but at a lower intensity than Wierd. Each of these places has things that are unique and interesting.
Loved this entire series. Found it perfectly written, unique from anything else. I recommend this highly.
