There is always something about memoir/biography stories that I only just like...maybe because if a character makes a mistake or is has a certain characteristic in the book it makes them more human. If a human makes mistakes or has a certain personality it's suppose to be their part of their character. I was wondering if I'd like this one better because it would be illustrated but not really. The illustrations are cute and obviously a lot of care was made into making them. I had a problem where I would really connect with Lucy and agree with them on a lot of things (Don't even get me started on pockets! I'm so happy to know a wedding dress with pockets exists!) but then she seemed somewhat unlikable at certain parts thinking she was making a pathway for a new type of wedding that never has been thought of ever! The biggest thing that bothered me is her wanting a baby so much. I am Tokophobic so when I read things like how her husband doesn't want a baby and she takes OUT her birth control implant, I get very upset. They didn't have a discussion on the book about agreeing to have a child. Her husband didn't want a kid and I thought that was the breaking point of why they broke up originally? I feel like she missed a vital part and just ended up making me upset at the end instead of “hopeful” feeling she wanted to leave off with.

Things I did like in this book are the cute illustrations, a lot of the points she made about weddings, fashion, and society, and that she had a great wedding! I'll probably check out her other books. ~Ashley
