When the decomposed body of a young woman is found near railway tracks just outside Bristol one morning, all indications are that she's committed suicide. That's how the police want it too; all neatly squared and tidied away. But DI Jack Caffery is not so sure. This was given to me by a friend and I didn't think about reading it for a long time...I'm glad I eventually got around to it!!

Although I haven't read the preceding books in the series, I didn't feel as though I had missed out on much. Obviously with some references to previous cases the two main characters worked on there was some missing back story but, instead of being a negative, this had made me want to read more of Mo Hayder's novels!

Apart from a serious case of ‘I'll protect my idiot brother' syndrome, I thought the characters were well written, I even enjoyed the annoying Ms. Lindermilk! The only character I still feel in the dark about it The Walking Man but I think I can satisfy my curiosity by reading more in this series.
