Shift

I tend to go through phases where I want to read a certain genre or cliche in books, but I've also found out that I am a sucker for certain kinds of stories- especially Retellings.

I literally went through every book my library had looking for fairy tale retellings I wanted to read and that would interest me. There are so many different types, and the stories can always go a different way too. I discovered this book, and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for! It was crazy! (Too good to be true, right? Apparently not.)

I rated this book 5 stars, because it was one of the best I've read in awhile and definitely a all-time favorite!
I loved the characters, and I was not disappointed at all. The plot was hard to see at first, but the settings and backstory and action kept you wanting to read more. And the romance :) Too cute!

The villain seemed to be needing sympathy with her backstory, but reminded me a lot of Levana from the Lunar Chronicles. Shudders

I eagerly bought this book, and currently am reading book 2. I've fallen in love with all the main characters (and sadly some side ones that don't get a lot of mentioning), and the story literally had me bouncing in my seat I was so excited.

If you love Alice in Wonderland retellings and like mixed-fairy tales, this book is definitely for you.
