We're in the first half of 2011, and the topic is book publishing. Somebody has "moved the cheese". Of course I am referring to the best-seller by Dr. Spencer Johnson which describes how individuals react to, and survive, change. I submit that the cheese has moved in the publishing industry. The rituals and traditions of getting a book published have been changing at an increasing pace. In the past three years these changes have come at warp speed as authors, agents, publishers, and book sellers attempt to keep up as the location of the cheese shifts.Hem and Haw should have noticed that fewer and fewer debut authors were being offered publishing contracts; and those that were contracted were responsible for ever-increasing responsibilities regarding review and marketing of their books the cheese moved. This doesn't have to be your fate as a writer! You have a golden opportunity to find your way out of the maze and into independent publishing. It's easy! It's an exhilarating accomplishment that I would like to share with you! And, you'll be in very good company with many other writers who broke the traditional publishing mold and went on to continued success. If you're waiting for readers to enjoy your work right now, I hope you'll consider moving with the cheese. Let's get started!
