Seduce Me at Sunrise

Normally I'm a Kleypas fan, but I just didn't love this one! Can't put my finger on exactly why: I like both Kev & Win, the protagonists, and liked the structure of both of them having roughly equal interiority, but I found myself leaning toward skimming as opposed to savoring. There is also a lot going on plot-wise: half-Roma/half-Irish brothers separated since childhood realize they're related, grandfather who turns out to be a murderous, racist asshole, charlatan doctor trying to poison people. Some of the additions I liked, like getting to see more of Cam and Amelia, but others felt less welcome: based on the set up for Married by Morning in this book, Leo Hathaway's change of heart regarding Catherine Marks is going to induce whiplash.

Merripen is a dumpster 🔥.   Any enjoyment of win and family was taken away by immature piece of shit merripen.  

Childhood sweethearts isn't my favorite trope and this still has a little bit of the Roma exoticization that I disliked in the first book, but I really liked Win. The villain was not quite developed enough for me, but overall I enjoyed this one.

The male lead, Merripen, was frequently INFURIATING, which is the reason I've docked this an additional star. Win is lovely, an angel, but how she came to love such a growly man I'm not sure.

Fui ENGOLIDA por essa estória. SCREAMING sério, muito bom.

Uma leitura levinha, cheia de coisas engraçadas, grandes revelações, e cheio de expectativas de uma vida melhor. Nada que vá mudar a vida do leitor com frases de efeito e grandes momentos, mas que ao terminar a leitura... estava feliz. E mais feliz ainda por ter comprado todos os volumes antecipadamente no amazon day.

Gosto da relação da família Hathaway, desse amor constante e “família” entre eles, gosto dos diálogos, de serem um grupo fora do tradicional, das personagens bem definidas, e de ser uma série reaaal - para um romance de época, pois estava acostumada com outras autoras que deixam as personagens dos próximos volumes como um pano de fundo secundário, sem entrar em suas vidas/mentes.
Pensei que sairia muito apaixonada por Kev depois desse volume, mas não foi o que aconteceu. Acho que me encantei, perpetuando o amor, com Cam e muito mais com Leo (engraçado demaaais!).

Sei que o livro tem seus defeitos, como alguma situações “forçadas” ou inoportunas cenas de demostração afetiva, pois isso que vende no romance, porém, no momento, me diverti muito e aproveitei a série. Quase um favorito, ouso dizer.
