One of the few books I feel compelled to own as both an ebook and in hardcopy, this might be my favorite collection of poetry ever. The poems are short but stunning (and not just because they are beautiful).
not my cup of tea.
just because
it is
written
like this
doesn't
mean
it is poetry.
some “poems”, as you may say, are nice and talk about things that matter, like the empowerment of black women. I just can't see how some people think these kind of pseudo poetry is deep and meaningful.
didn't like it. however, gave it two stars because it can be better than milk and honey, to which I gave 1 star.

This is a poetry collection that touches on a variety of themes from motherhood, race, self empowerment and a lot more. While I definitely think the topics are important and worth reading about but unfortunately this collection did not work for me. There was a handful of poems that I really liked but the rest just weren't for me.
