I'd been meaning to start this series for ages. I've heard nothing but good things (at least about the first 30 or 40 issues). Blown away is the only words I have to describe how good this series is when it starts. From the premise, to the art, to the dialogue–it's all extremely strong an inventive. It's adult, but accessible. It's dark, but endearing. It's Romeo and Juliet meet Star Wars meet Jim Henson. Every bit as good as anything else out there. I could not wait to get my hands on Vol. 2 after finishing Vol. 1.
This is probably the fastest I've ever read through a graphic novel! The art style and the bizarre world they present to you is absolutely captivating! There are so many interesting creature designs and mysterious plot to uncover. This graphic novel is set aside with our ADULT graphic novel section because of some of its content. You can pick up this graphic novel at the Colona Public Library! ~Ashley
If you liked this you may enjoy Maestros, Vol. 1 by Steve Skroce
Warning to the few like myself with tokophobia: There is a birthing scene and thankfully it is short.
One of the best stories I've experienced. Cannot wait to finish the experience when legendary Brian K Vaughn and Fiona Staples come back from their deserved hiatus.
Saga is perfect.
I mostly lost track of who's done what in the past, but, I still love these characters and enjoy spending time with when. Especially little Hazel.
Let it be said that this volume shows its age with some of its character language and ideals (the r-slur is used once) but other than that I really enjoyed this! I'm not much for sci-fi but I think the medium of this being a graphic novel really saved it! I also enjoyed that as a plot the story seems focused on just these two people from opposing sides trying to raise their baby and stay alive. It's really heartwarming when the world surrounding them is gritty and crass and dark.
Neither of the antagonists stands out to me so far, but the story is only just beginning so I have high hopes for this! It's interesting that Hazel (the baby) is the narrator of the story and it makes me wonder how long this story is going to go on, whether there's going to be any timeskips, etc...
I'm locked in for sure though!
Kind of a try-hard-edgy, Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon vibe here that is a little unappetizing.
The “blue language” is Esperanto, you can use Google translate to read those panels and not miss part of the plot :D
i only started this because i was in a major reading slump and ngl it was slow getting into (for my standards anyway) but then WHEW... ADDICTING! the funny part is i don't think the stories going on here are particularly interesting at their bases and the characters aren't anything new and yet i'm really enjoying the ride and the whole vibe of the thing
Given how desperately people seem to love this story, I don't think it's really my vibe. The TV head folks genuinely confused me. I seriously don't get the hype.
I'm going to need to read the rest of this series. Clever concept, amazing art, and superb story structure.
Guys this is probably my favorite thing I've read this year yet. And y'all have been patiently enduring my Ice Planet Barbarians obsession.
This is so good. So good. It's my first true comic book (just girly things) and I am OBSESSED. I desperately need the next one.
The art is absolutely stunning in this (18+ don't say I didn't warn you) and I am utterly in love with every character. Both our “heroes” and our “villains” are already so compelling and I just can't wait to see where they go in the rest of this ~saga~.
This is a science fiction comic book that follows star-crossed lovers (hell yes) as they seek to not get murdered. How romantic. It beautifully blends heavy topics and worldly commentary with comedy. There was no boring point of this story and I hardly wanted to put it down.
If you're a science fiction fan or wanting to dive into the genre and also happen to be interested in the world of comics, venture no farther. I promise you won't be disappointed.
This was a short but cool introduction to this sci-fi story.
I like this! A little too aggressive and grotesque however it was a good story!
This is the kind of high concept sci-fi/fantasy I have so much time for.
It's the classic ‘star crossed lovers trying to start a life away from the man' story, but when the man is a human shaped robot with a TV for a head and the lovers are a remixed angel and demon it all becomes so much more engaging.
Haha this was fucking awesome finished it very quickly! This was a visually stunning experience the art is excellent it felt like I was actually in space! The humor is really good, the characters are some of the most original ever written in a comic. Highly recommended for anybody who is getting bored right now be careful though you might get addicted!
