I liked the author's writing style, and I loved Elijah the aspiring rocket scientist; shy nerds are definitely my catnip. But I wasn't a big fan of Pax, so the romance wasn't very satisfying. It felt like all of the power was on Pax's side; he kept referring to Elijah as “his nerdlet” and I didn't care for the possessiveness coming from someone who demanded that they keep things casual. My opinion of him didn't get much better when he repeatedly insisted that he “didn't do romance” for some vague reasons that included the fact that he tended to cheat on the few boyfriends he had in the past. I don't care if his previous lovers weren't right for him, I'm not here for infidelity. Finally, Pax was so obsessed with Elijah's “innocence” that I thought I was reading an Old Skool 1980's romance where the hero could sleep with dozens of women but the heroine had to be as pure as the driven snow.
Despite my lack of enthusiasm for one of the MCs, I would try this author again, especially if she writes about Pax's brother/Elijah's BFF Theo, or Elijah's grad school buddy Alex.
