Robbie the Dysfunctional Robot

2015 • 484 pages

In a world controlled by a corporation that uses robots to fill the gaps in a decimated labour force, Robbie the house bot does a bad thing. His owners send him to robot therapy where he meets Omo, a laundry bot who wants to fold the world, and Dex, a depressed disaster bot. Robbie will learn that in his world many things are not as they seem, including his new friends, and also Robbie himself. With the help of his friends Robbie escapes from his cleaning cupboard and explores his world. He discovers an underground organisation, the Robot Workers of the World, and meets new people including a satellite called Eric who leads of the death star community, a sex toy with gender issues, three Japanese girl bots with an unreasonable passion for soap opera and a mysterious and frightening entity under the Antarctic rock and ice. He is also confronted with a personal dilemma when George, his human lover from a previous, forgotten, existence tracks him down. But George is not the only part of his past that wants to reclaim Robbie. The entity hidden under the Antarctic rock and ice is reaching out to Robbie, but is it friend or foe, and what does it want? Will the entity help or hinder him in resolving the mystery of his existence and escaping the violence of his past?
