Cute, But Needs More Editing
Though a cute story for children at its core, this book is too poorly edited to get anything above a two-star rating from me. Tenses shift frequently and there are several grammatical errors which could easily confuse the younger target audience. Most egregious, however, is that one character is named either Beebop or Beepob... but we'll never know which, because the spelling alternates between the two options nearly every time the character is mentioned by name. How does an error like this makes it past the author re-reading the rough draft, much less beyond the editing stage? Even if the grammatical and tense-shifting issues were missed due to a potential lack of a professional editor, the name issue should have been noticed by the author.
As for the story itself, it's a fairly simplistic tale about a young unicorn princess who makes friends with a dragon her age. It's too long to be a bedtime story and contains no images in the kindle edition so I don't know if it would hold a very young child's attention, but I could see a child enjoying having this read to them. I'd have liked it when I was a child, and I have a few kids in my family who I suspect would also enjoy hearing this narrated with silly voices.
With a little editing, I think this book has potential to be a 3.5-star children's book. But as is, it's not quite up to that level.
