An interesting mess. Somewhat reminiscent of Jasper Fforde's Nursery Crimes series but not as well-written. There is too much telling that Red is a tough-as-nails Enforcer and not enough showing, and her love interest has a rather bizarre occupation, to say the least, that is somewhat less than romantic. Despite the weaknesses, the book bursts with energy and has a rough charm.
