Rapture in Death

Idk whats wrong with me I am such a grump.

I love the side characters here but am not totally enamored with Eve and Roarke. I really struggled with this mystery and the mystery itself was super super interesting this felt soooo long and it felt sooo long for Eve to make real progress on the case. When I know who the red herring is and it takes the defective until the last 5 percent to figure it out thats annoying, not fun.

I've heard the mysteries themselves get better around book 10 but we will see it I stick around. I will say if this wasn't audio I would've probably DNFd. Def feels like a SVU episode on audio haha and I don't always like every episode of that so maybe I need to be more patient with this series.

The nature vs nurture debate kept getting repeated over and over without making a real headway but maybe thats a bigger topic on this series. The ending also pissed me off bc it was way too abrupt. Ultimately did not work for me.

I don't really have a whole lot to say about this that isn't just going to be me repeating myself.

I am absolutely loving this series and can't believe I didn't know about it until this year. I love Eve and Roarke. They are both flawed and love each other fiercely. Speaking of the romance things get a little hot in this book. The romance is always hot but there was something about 1 particular scene that I just loved.

I love how these books have a balance between the romance and the investigation. I never feel like I am getting more of one than the other.

Fun but kinda dull too. Although I did read some of this with a headache, so I can't blame the book completely.

Unfortunately, I also totally guessed the bad guys haha. So, it was all just a slow build-up to me. There is one sex scene that.... I know why it needed to be done, but considering Eve's past, I feel like it should have been handled differently. Because.... yeah.

Not my fave thus far, but it was still an enjoyable read. I look forward to reading the next book.

There is a lot of cupping of breasts in this book. The characters are ridiculously perfect/evil. But I enjoyed it.
