This is one of those books that I wasn't sure if I was going to like, since I could see where the romance was going, but ended up being hooked and loving it.
So, yeah some of it is very obvious, but the book is so cute and I ended up liking the romance and honestly I just really enjoyed reading it, so 5 stars. Like I said, some of it is super obvious, such as who the mysterious letter writer is and the guitar issue, but there were a few things that surprised me, which was really nice. The main characters were... interesting. Maybe not the most deep ever, but they felt decently realistic. True, there are misunderstandings and tons of drama over boys, but this is a YA contemporary romance, it just goes with the territory.
As usual, I am disappointed in the friendship– Lily's friend was only there for Lily and had no other purpose. It was a bit annoying.
I also like how the book isn't just about getting a boyfriend, but is about courage to do and get what you want. Lily wants to confront Cade, she wants to finish a song, perform it in front of people, and submit it for a contest. She also wants to go on a date with Lucas. She doesn't feel brave enough to do these things and this book is about how she becomes more confident in herself.
This is my second Kasie West book and I must say I'm pretty impressed, I'll definitely check out more by her :)
