A monster thriller with character and heart. If you're a fan of Godzilla and Kaiju fiction, you're in for a treat. If you're not currently a fan of the genre, you're about the become one. The book's protagonist, Hudson, bounces between amusing and laugh out loud funny and the action is non-stop from beginning to end. This book would make a killer movie.
Kaiju, aside from super sentai and kamen rider, these are my favorites growing up in the 70's, seeing Godzilla, going up against Mothra, Ghidora and the other rubber monsters, well back then even knowing that, to me it was the best movie experience.......remember the betamax????
Reading Mr. Robinson's Project Nemesis, it brought back those bygone years, the rising tension that you feel, knowing there is a monster(why can't anyone see it???), numerous reports of something huge coming and going and leaving a path of destruction, and finally our first glimpse of the Kaiju......(in comes Godzilla's entrance music).......
I will stick around and read more of this series.........Thank you Jeremy Robinson!!!!!
SO that's the first Kaiju book in my life and strangely there was nothing really Kaiju about it. It read rather like some fantasy books that have imaginary creatures in them. I was especially reminded of Book of Souls by Trevor Cooley. But in some other ways it was funny, fast and Godzilla like that I still enjoyed it lots. I may or may not go onto the next one but if you are looking for a completely mindless read full of shallow characters and lots of death this should be right up there.
