Polar Vortex

It is clear that the author Matthew put in a lot of research into writing this book. Everything about the book that requires being accurate are accurate. However, the story is lacking. A story needs to have some kind of purpose. If it was simply a story about the heroic escape of a plane crash survivor, then it would have been fine. However, the narrative kept hinting at some conspiracy or plot behind the protagonist being a part of the plane crash. Then it fails to deliver. We learn nothing satisfying enough to call this book a completed story other than the speculations of the protagonist. Disappointed about that. Otherwise, its a good book worth picking up to learn a bit about the artic regions and iPhones!

Powerful ending. Ugh. Gut punch at the end with one word. “Wisdom”
The path there is made all the better to reach it.

Good story about a father and his daughter and a few other people (some rather mysterious) in a very bad situation. (Oh and, there is a dog too.) It gets pretty grim in places and a bit preachy at times, but I liked it.
The cover text tells you pretty much what you can expect. You get that and more.
Solid four stars.

Another Great Story by Mather

I've been reading Mather's books since his first work appeared and they just keep getting better as he hones his storytelling skills. This was a great “who done it” adventure tale with a deeper message buried within and I would heartily recommend it to all who enjoy a good story.
