Perfect on Paper

This was amazing!! I loved the bisexual representation, it also handled biphobia so well!
I loved Darcy's relationship with her sister, and her sister was also amazing!
Darcy's character growth throughout the book was really well done, and I love the person she became in the end!
This is definitely one of my new favorites, and I would recommend it to anyone!

That was so good! I haven't read ya book in a while and wow I really should have.

Some stuff were cheesy and cringey but that's a given, given the book is about and for teenagers. But I still related to a lot of stuff as an almost 30-year-old-woman. Especially that poor teacher who was like “hey, i'm only 27!” i felt it lool

The whole book dealt really well with queerness and identoty and what it meant about being bi and finding your place in this world. I wish I could have read it when I was 16/17, it would be a perfect read for me at the time, perhaps even help me figure stuff out. Too bad the book wasn't out back then!

Darcy and Brougham are awesome. I loved their friendship and how they figured stuff out. And Darcy)'s fears about being in a relationship with him, but even when she was still panicing she still made sure to communocate with him and calm his down.

Ainslyn was the best big sister ever and I felt so sorry for her for having to bear this responsobility while their mom was so busy.

Brooke... I was really angry with her by the end. She told people and caused Darcy to be suspended and for her to be pariah. Darcy fucked up and she knew it, and I get that Brooke was pissed and had right to be - but outing Darcy as the person behind locker 89 was a low blow. She should have been apologized too, for revealing Darcy's secret.

But I'm glad that she and Darcy made up and that Darcy included Ray too!

Brougham is the sweetest person in this book and he deserves the world and I LOVE HIM. He needs to be protected!

Also loved how they showed the characters home life and how it wasn't all perfect

the apology at the end was sooo over the top, but this was cute and fun.

I cried a little during the scene about internalized biphobia.

As much as I hate calling books that, this book is so important. I absolutely adored Darcy as a main character. She did make many mistakes which will make you cringe but that just makes her all the more human and endearing. 
In fact, it's hard to think of a character I didn't like in this, which is so rare. The romance was so fucking precious it made me feel like a giggly teenager (...which I am). I also loved all the amazing queer rep in this! We have people from various indentities which made my heart go soft. 
The way this book handled biphobia (both internalized and very much not) in a subtle way was truly commendable. Also, I'm in love with Brougham. 
I loved the Locker 89™ advice sections at the beginning of most chapters. It was enlightening, even for me. 
And the way that “You're queer” scene had me crying in the club? Pitiful, really. 
This book was also really funny. I was cracking up at multiple points. 
Though I have to nitpick about how many times a guy-is-drunk-and-needs-to-be-taken-care-of situation happened. Which is twice, but it's still weird that it happened twice. 
And it did take me some time to get invested in everything and guage how I was feeling, but once I was in I was in. 
Overall: I would totally recommend this book to everyone!!!

I was conflicted about what to rate this book. Considering it took over 3 weeks to read, I felt that 4 stars may be too generous. There were aspects of this book I really liked and others I didn't love so much.

I loved that Darcy was a character with a lot of personality that poured through the pages. Every conversation and situation was laced with her sarcasm and witty remarks, which made her a really unique and relatable protagonist. While I sometimes felt she dove too deep i

4.5 Perfect on Paper is a sweet and smart romance with a nuanced bi main character and an awesome focus on consent culture and healthy relationship advice that feels organic and not preachy. Supporting characters are in the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and a Queer and Questioning club is part of the plot, helping to answer questions for readers like aro/ace distinctions, etc. Parents are included in the story and are also given nuance and teens make realistic decisions. Strong recommend, this has wide appeal.

this book is great, i highly recommend it if you like YA and want good bi rep.

the characters are extremely likeable in my opinion and the premise with the agony aunt side hustle that darcy has going on is very well done and kept me interested throughout the whole book.

i also liked that there are consequences for actions and the characters just. act like normal people?? idk, there wasn't really a moment that made me very frustrated with anyone because i could clearly tell where they were coming from.

i only gave it 4 stars in the end because there were some scenes that were a little bit too cheesy for my taste, but thats just a very subjective thing.

the way that darcy gives really good relationship advice to literally everybody but is so bloody obtuse when it comes to her own relationships honestly makes me want to scream

When I picked this up and requested it, I really did want something easy breezy and something to break up the mystery and bloody reading sprees. I was enchanted by the story. There were times I laughed and flipped through it and got lost in the cuteness. I liked Brougham. He was all big heart and grumpy brute and it was great. The way he opened up to Darcy as the pages turned it was great. His family life added to the story for me and when things rough and he opened up to Darcy and showed us his inner silly I was sold,


Darcy however was a tougher sell for me. While I felt like she had a generosity of spirit and a big heart, some of her actions were just...really off-putting. But also, Probably true to her age. And in the end, I was happy with the way it was all resolved. And I loved her with Brougham. There were sweetness and honesty to their relationship that felt so heartfelt to me. But I also appreciated the honesty in the inner-conflict Darcy felt while sorting through her own feelings for him. In this, I felt like everything was basically perfection.

I enjoyed this book but this was a bit of a mixed bag for me. That is why it is getting three stars. I liked the writing style of the author. It took a bit for me to settle into the story, and then some parts felt like they dragged - I found most of it engaging and relatable but the pacing of the storytelling felt off to me, or maybe it was just that I wasn't as invested in all storylines? In any case, I enjoyed the LGBTQ+ representation and once I got comfortable in the pages, I was happy to see it through to the end. If you are looking for an easy-breezy diverse read this is a great one to read.
