Story
I'm not sure how I hadn't heard of this series until recently, because it's really good. I might even like it more than Saga, as blasphemous as that sounds.
Really though, it just means I really enjoy Brian K. Vaughn's work a lot. I'm really curious to see where things go from here. I like the way he's handling the time travel so far. I have no idea who to trust beyond the paper girls themselves.
Artwork
Once again, I enjoy the artwork, but the colors continue to stand out. It's all just so dark blue. It's kind of a muted effect over everything. It's still enjoyable, but I find it a bit distracting.
2019: I'm loving this series even more my 2nd time through! Volume 2 had a Narnia reference, and this one referenced the Babel fish translator from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! And a line about forgetting to bring her towel! Lol! Oh, and a Star Trek “Prime Directive” reference too!
Is it possible to be in love with a comic book series? Asking for a friend... =)
The series continues to excel. I love the themes of age and maturity that Vaughn and company are playing with. I never quite know where the story is going next and I can't wait to find out.
3.75 stars The illustrations are gorgeous, but nothing really happened in this volume. I'm still really excited to see where this is going.
3.5 stars. I'm a bit boggled as to where this is going. And I think I need to reread the first two volumes, but I continue to enjoy on the whole.
Loving this comic series. The arc of the story keeps getting better with each issue!
