Loved this! A lovely story, and a great way to introduce France (Paris), a small amount of french language, and art.
Josette Bobette sees all the lovely family portraits in her Paris home and notices her stuffed rabbit, Pepette, has no portrait. She seeks to change that. Josette and Pepette set out for Montmartre to find an artist to paint Pepette's portrait. Pablo Picasso tries. Josette is not satisfied. Salvador Dali tries. Josette is not satisfied. Marc Chagall tries. Josette is not satisfied. Henri Matisse tries. Josette is not satisfied. Suddenly Josette realizes what has to be done.
A beautiful book combining a little art history with strong encouragement for self-expression over accepting the work of acknowledged masters.
I like the story, but I wish Claire had tried more to copy the different artists' style.
