Over My Dead Body

This didn't work for me.

The atmosphere in this book is SO lovely. The art style, which is both lush and somehow chilling, was absolutely gorgeous paired with the autumnal color palette and the Samhain/Halloween setting. Visually this novel was just STUNNING.

The story was good too but I just wish we got...more? Nothing was confusing and everything was tied up neatly but I just wish we had spent a little longer in this world. This book felt like it flew by and I wish we got more lore, more details on the lore, more time with the character interactions. 

Really my only gripe with this is that it wasn't long enough for me to rate it higher. Otherwise a very nice read!

I think I just don't like graphic novels that much. The art was pretty, but the story felt rushed.

It was a good mix of mystery, found family, and horror. I felt like a lot of the horror was placed on the actions people had taken rather than placing it onto a creature. At least that's what I got from reading this book.

The story itself was predictive but the artwork was stunning in an autumn like way. The character dynamics are what pulled me further into this book. I liked that even though everyone in the group was all in into finding their friend their attitudes avried when it came to the consequences they faced. In previous mystery books that I've read the majority of the time majority of the group continues investigating with no regard for consequences so it was an interesting change.

I would recommend this to someone looking for a mystery book with some horror elements. Or if they like books set in magic academies.

(I kept putting off reviewing this because I want in the mood to write.)

Charming art, fun story. Nothing really original, definitely of the generations inspired by She Who Shall Not Be Named. But the characters were adorable, better rendered, diverse, and really quite darling. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would not be opposed to revisiting this world. 3.5 stars.

Beautiful art and a really intriguing plot. I would have loved a little more character development and less insta-love with Goldie and Violet, but the overall atmosphere and pacing were perfect.
