I feel like by the end of this review, a lot of people are going to hate me. I know, I'm sorry, I can't help but express my thoughts about this book . Because I didn't enjoy it as I hoped. I heard a lot about it so I had super high expectations, and sadly, it didn't meet them. Not forgetting that I have issues with it. issues the made me want to stop reading at some points. these are the biggest ones:
-The insta-love, I know it was in a different, and it went through years. But still its Insta-love.
-Benton freaking Kessler, he's the main issue. This dude, barely 2 minutes after they meet, he's fantasizing about undressing her in his head, thinking what color her underpants is, later on forcing her to do something she's not comfortable with like wearing that dress, hid the truth form her all this years, .. etc. How is that romantic? Huh? That's CREEPY and manipulating . I know he hid the truth because he didn't want to lose her or to hate him, and that something bad happened to him on that same date, but its not enough to justify himself. And she deserved a proper apology, not just a letter.
-The fact that she asked for forgiveness, it's enough that she forgives him but why is she asking that he forgives her? WHY?! if I was in her place I would have moved on and tell Ben that is over for real and he's lucky that our next November is not going to be at the court.
And if you are wondering about the plot twist, yes I didn't see it coming, that all I'm gonna say about it.
I know you are gonna say it's fiction, it's just a book. But my issues with Ben, they weren't okay, they weren't romantic, they were toxic and not right, they shouldn't be shown to be acceptable in books. I couldn't pretend it's just a book and accept it. As much as I loved her writing style, I'm still gonna rate it ⭐/5, it hurts so much to give a hyped book 1 star.
And if you think I'm too harsh with the book, I'm sorry again. But that's how I feel about it.
Also if you have a different option, don't forget to share it in the comments below. I'd love to hear it.
