North Yokshire is one of the most beautiful areas in the British Isles. A wild, haunting landscape provides shelter to many wonderful creatures that live forever in some of the finest stories.
In this beautiful collection, we have myths, stories, historical anecdotes that come from this corner of the world. Here, we will find fairies, kind-hearted giants (and some that are, rather, malicious), wronged heroines, evil monks (and a few good-mannered ones), witches, hellhounds, highwaymen... Even three great figures make an appearence: Robin Hood (naturally, we are on his grounds), Ragnar Lodbrok (yes, that one. The king who had many brave sons, but the greatest of them all was Ivar the Boneless. According to legend, he founded York, using his cunning mind), and the Devil, that poor bugger who built a bridge in four days.
Ingrid Barton has created a very entertaining collection of stories for children and for adults. It is a part of a series dedicated to myths and folk tales from every corner of Britain.
