I've been completely enchanted by this unique fantasy romance! **Nocturnal Shadows** introduces us to Dina, who escapes her mundane life through vivid dreams... until she finds herself trapped in the realm of Nadiraan, where dreams and reality blur beyond recognition.
What begins as a seemingly ordinary "transported to another world" story quickly evolves into something much deeper and more intriguing. The concept of Soul-Walking—where the Forsaken dream of soulmates across realms—adds such a fascinating layer to this tale. When Dina is thrust into this dangerous new world, saved by the king's general Quirin, and drawn into a complex connection involving Quirin's best friend Marian, the stage is set for a compelling slow-burn poly romance.
Gurenko masterfully weaves elements of fated mates, found family, and a prophecy that places our heroine at the center of a brewing war. The world-building is immersive without being overwhelming, allowing the emotional connections between characters to truly shine.
What I particularly loved was how different this felt from Gurenko's previous work while still showcasing her talent for creating captivating characters you can't help but root for. The MMF dynamic develops organically, with each relationship bringing its own unique tension and tenderness.
The pacing is perfect—giving us time to explore this new world while keeping the stakes high enough to keep me turning pages well into the night!
