Excellent spooky story, enhanced by being read aloud. I rolled my eyes a bit at the romance subplot, this being written by a man with a male protagonist the description of the women was a bit classically sexist, but it's not much of the book so it didn't detract much.
I've always loved Erik Larson's nonfiction books. He's a master storyteller, so it makes perfect sense that his fiction would be gripping and beautifully written.
*4.5 stars. This was an excellent ghostly story. Atmospheric. Interesting characters. A great setup. Historical echoes. I really enjoyed it.
DNF. The story has a unique and potentially scary premise, so I listened and listened. But William James wouldn't stop talking at the beginning. And then there was so much discussion about electricity that I just didn't care anymore.
